Continuing its 50-year commitment to producing dramatic works that reflect Gotham’s city life, the Public Theater introduces the Emerging Writers Program to mentor starving artists in the earliest stages of their careers. Twelve to 15 chosen scribes participate in writer meetings and master classes led by established dramatists and the Public Literary Department, and receive a $3,000 stipend, comps to Public Theater shows, and at least one reading on one of the nation’s most progressive stages. Unlike other writing programs of prestige, only scripters without "representation" or lengthy CVs of large-scale productions qualify, and only a one-year commitment is required. Tell your favorite wannabe bard to get a a move on, though; applications must be postmarked by August 31 or delivered in person before midnight.
