After a year of exploring digital Islamic communities, Carnegie Council Senior Fellows Joshua S. Fouts and Rita J. King will present findings from their project. They conclude that engaging with people in virtual worlds can be part of a broader public diplomacy strategy.
Fouts and King will show a brief video documentary of their explorations on the diplomatic frontier, and Iran's top hip hop artist, YAS, has generously offered to perform a couple tracks. Wine reception to follow.

I agree completely. Utilizing virtual worlds make great tools for understanding culture. There are so many other practical applications in the digital worlds other than just gaming.
Who knows, maybe one day, even PlayStation Home will serve as a tool for diplomacy as well.
