  1. David:
I had the opportunity of watching the PBS/American Experience piece on Aimee Semple MacPherson. There is much to learn hear, like reaching out cross-culturally (in the 1920’s no less), and women in ministry. The other side is the tendency in us to equate bigger with better; that somehow size and a rapid growth spurt in ministry is a sign of God’s blessing. A.W. Tozer warned us about this when he said, “Religion has accepted the montrous heresy that noise, size, activity and bluster make a man dear to God.” (A.W. Tozer, The Pursuit of God) I say all this to call our attention to the fact that we should all be careful to pursue success for the sake of success. Somehow pride creeps in and we all know that pride comes before a fall. There are a lot of good lessons to learn here. May we be open to these and walk in a way that brings honor and glory to our Lord.

  2. I was really looking forward to seeing that special. Hopefully they’ll replay it. Did you feel it was a balanced portrayal?

  3. Luis:
From what I know of the history, the portrayal seemed balanced to me.
